The State Historical Museum of Moscow opened an exhibition “Pompeii – secrets of the buried city.” There are artefacts from the collection of the National Archaeological Museum of Naples on display.

The exhibition introduces visitors to various aspects of life in the urban area of Mount Vesuvius destroyed August 24, 79 AD by volcano’s eruption. The core of the exhibition is objects found during excavations of XVII-XVIII centuries in Pompeii.

Visitors will see the household items, as well as a large collection of artwork – frescos which were decorating houses of rich citizens. In addition, the exhibition presents a variety of gold jewellery and precious stones, silver and bronze tools, marble garden sculpture and fountains.

The exhibition is open until August, 15 2010.

The five-star Lotte Hotel opened its doors in Moscow. The hotel has a very central location; it is situated at the intersection of Novy Arbat and Sadovoe Koltso.

Lotte Hotel Moscow offers guests 266 rooms and 38 suites designed by world-renowned interior designer Hirsch & Bedner Associates and Wilson & Associates. The minimum square of standard rooms is 42 meters, which distinguishes them from this room category in other hotels. There are also rooms equipped for people with disabilities.

The hotel has two restaurants: for the first time in Moscow, Lotte Hotel will feature the opening of Les Menus restaurant by a three Michelin star chef Pierre Gagnaire. The uniqueness of the cuisine is based on a blend of recipes typical to the region of the restaurant location and inventive techniques created by the French master. Variety of Japanese cuisine is presented by the menu of MEGU restaurant from New York.

There are also six banquet halls designed to accommodate small meetings and large events, a night club, a fitness and spa centre, a swimming pool and a three-level parking lot.

“Humboldt & Humboldt” has a wide range of 30 series of local and translated guidebooks, including Lonely Planet, Dorling Kindersley, Fodor’s, Bradt, Insight Guide; also hundreds of roadmaps, tourist maps, wallmaps of any areas and formats.
There is a wide range of literature related to expeditions, geography, phrasebooks and much more, including second-hand geographical publications.

The store will also operate as a travel club. There will be presentations of new publications, lectures and meetings with travellers.

Aeroflot Russian Airlines presented new co-brand cards on Russian market that combine traditional privileges of Aeroflot Bonus program and financial and service benefits of American Express.

Russian Standard Bank began to issue three types of cards: Aeroflot American Express Classic, Aeroflot American Express Gold and Aeroflot American Express Premium. Customers who decide to use Aeroflot American Express credit card will benefit from accumulating bonus miles faster, also they can exchange their Bonus Miles on award flight with Aeroflot or partner airlines in SkyTeam alliance, use free life and health insurance when travelling, use programs of purchases protection and luggage insurance, receive help and support from Clients Support Service in case of emergency anywhere in the world.

The credit cards can be opened in Rubles or US dollars. The grace period on credit is up to 55 days.

Aeroflot became the third airline in Russia which has co-brand card with American Express; the first company was British Airways, the second one was Transaero. Apart from Russian Standard bank other banks like Sberbank, Alfa Bank, Citibank, “Uralsib, Gazprombank and SMP-Bank offer new co-brand cards Aeroflot American Express.

The largest in the history of the State Hermitage Museum exhibition of works by Pablo Picasso is open in St. Petersburg. The National Picasso Museum (Paris), which is temporarily closed for reconstruction, has provided more than 200 showpieces for the exhibition.

The visitors will see Picasso’s work of all periods from 1901 to 1972 including painting, sculpture, graphics, photos, and even books illustrated by the artist.

Specially for Russia, organisers put together additional exposition – “Picasso and the Russian ballet”, dedicated to collaboration of Picasso and Sergei Diaghilev, Igor Stravinsky and Leonid Myasin.

The exhibition will be open till 5th September 2010.

Minibus Vorobjovi Gory MoscowOn the territory of the Moscow Natural Reserve Vorobjovy gory started to run an electric mini bus with capacity of 16 people. It is free of charge.

During the summer season the mini busses will run from Vorobjovy Gory to Andreevskaya embankment every day from 9.00 am to 7.00 pm. There are several stops on the route which are marked with bright columns.

The audio guide will be available for passengers, telling about the nature and history of Vorobjovy Gory.
